Driver Arrested Following Brooklyn Three-Car Collision That Left Four People Injured on Avenue U
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (June 15, 2025) – At least four people were injured in a Brooklyn three-vehicle collision involving a police car near the intersection of Avenue U and Coney Island Avenue.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place around 2 AM on Sunday. A 25-year-old man was traveling north on Coney Island Avenue with a Chevrolet Suburban when he collided with a Volvo and a marked police vehicle.
Paramedics were called to the scene to help all of the victims. A total of three people were injured. One driver has since been arrested after the crash.
Car accidents remain a major cause of preventable injury and death for New Yorkers and people across the country. According to the National Safety Council, “Between 1913 and 2023, motor-vehicle deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles decreased 95%, from 33 to 1.57, respectively. In 1913, only 1.3 million vehicles were registered, and 4,200 people died on the road. In 2023, 285 million vehicles were registered, and 44,762 people died on the road.” Many different factors may contribute to a car accident.
All drivers have a legal obligation to use caution in order to avoid colliding with other vehicles. They must maintain a safe distance from all vehicles ahead of them. When an emergency operator has their lights and sirens on, drivers must move out of their way to avoid causing any potential collision. If a driver fails to exercise due care to avoid a crash, they could be held at fault through a civil claim. There are many reasons victims should consider hiring a personal injury attorney after a crash.
Perhaps one of the greatest advantages to hiring a personal injury attorney is that they work entirely off of a contingency fee basis. In other words, they get paid entirely from the opposing party only if they are able to successfully resolve your claim. If they are not able to resolve your case successfully, you owe them nothing.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to all of the people injured in this car accident on Avenue U. It is our hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. City officials should consider what measures may help make this particular intersection safer.
