Five Injured Following Franklin Square Car Accident by Hempstead Turnpike and Herman Boulevard

FRANKLIN SQUARE, LONG ISLAND (June 21, 2026) – At least five people were injured in a Franklin Square car accident near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Hermann Boulevard.

Nassau County officials are saying that the accident took place around 4 AM on Thursday. One vehicle was struck broadside by a Nissan.

The force of the impact caused that vehicle to roll into a gas station before it collided with a gas pump. Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help all of the injured parties.

All five people were taken to the hospital to receive treatment. At least one of the victims was listed in serious condition.

Liability for Franklin Square Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of preventable car accidents. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2024, killing 11,288, or an average of over 31 people on a typical day. A crash is considered speeding-related if the driver was charged with a speeding-related offense or if racing, driving too fast for conditions, or exceeding the posted speed limit was indicated as a contributing factor in the crash.” There are several steps that should be taken after any collision.

  • Medical records related to the crash should be sought.

  • The police report for the accident should be collected.

  • Eyewitnesses should be interviewed early on.

  • Victims should contact an experienced personal injury lawyer.

If a person fails to slow down to avoid hitting another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Depending on the facts of any case, there could be several sources of liability for any accident. It is important that accident victims understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
