CYPRESS HILLS, BROOKLYN (June 29, 2026) – At least five people were injured after a car crashed through a Chase Bank entrance in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, along Fulton Street.
New York City officials are saying that the accident took place on Sunday morning. For undetermined reasons, a car drove through the front entrance of a Chase bank.
The force of the impact injured multiple people. It remains unclear why the driver went through the entrance of the Chase Bank. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
A large portion of car accidents are due to one or more drivers that are speeding. According to the National Safety Council, “Speeding was a factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2024, killing 11,288, or an average of over 31 people on a typical day. A crash is considered speeding-related if the driver was charged with a speeding-related offense or if racing, driving too fast for conditions, or exceeding the posted speed limit was indicated as a contributing factor in the crash.” What follows are a few other factors that could contribute to a crash.
Driver intoxication
Poor road conditions
Inclement weather
Distracted driving
Pedal confusion is another common reason that drivers go through a storefront. This occurs when a driver mistakes the accelerator for the brakes. If a driver fails to slow down before colliding with any pedestrian or fixed objects, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person injured due to the negligence of another driver may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a civil action.
We at GLK Law extend our best wishes to the people injured in this Cypress Hills car accident. It is our sincere hope that they will be able to make a full recovery. Any person may have more information about what would happen. Should reach out to the NYPD.
