Female Pedestrian Died in West Village Car Accident on Morton Street

Investigation Underway After 27-Year-Old Woman from Cambridge Died in West Village, Manhattan Car Accident

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (December 30, 2025) – A 27-year-old woman has tragically died in a West Village, Manhattan car accident on Morton Street.

New York City officials are saying the collision occurred around 8:30 AM on Thursday. A 2020 GMC van was pulling out of a parking garage and turning right when it traveled the wrong direction on Morton Street.

That driver collided with the pedestrian and knocked her to the ground. Paramedics were called to the scene of the collision to help the victim.

First responders performed CPR, but this was not enough to save her. She later died due to her injuries.

A full investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Liability for Manhattan Car Accidents

Many pedestrians are seriously injured or killed every year in preventable motor vehicle collisions. According to the New York State Department of Health, “Approximately 300 pedestrians are killed and 15,000 are injured by motor vehicles each year on the state’s roadways, and more than 3,000 pedestrians are admitted to the hospital annually.” It is important that certain steps be taken after any pedestrian accident.

  • Photos of the accident site should be collected.
  • Medical records related to injuries should be preserved.
  • Surveillance footage of the crash should be sought.
  • Victims should seek the guidance of an experienced attorney.

Drivers must exercise due care to avoid colliding with pedestrians. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway, they could be held at fault for the collision. The family of any person who died in a collision may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a wrongful death claim.
