E-bike Rider Injured In Hudson Truck Accident on North 1st Street

Investigation Underway After Electric Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Hudson Collision by the Intersection of North 1st Street and Warren Street

HUDSON, NEW YORK (August 26, 2025) – An e-bike rider was seriously injured in a Hudson car accident near the intersection of North 1st Street and Warren Street.

Hudson officials are saying that the collision took place around 11:49 AM on August 12. A pickup truck driver was heading southbound on North 1st Street.

That driver reportedly pulled into the path of a person operating an electric bicycle. It remains unclear who may have had the right-of-way.

Paramedics were called to the scene to help the victim. The bicycle rider sustained a major head injury and was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Hudson Bicycle Accidents

Thousands of bicyclists are killed or seriously injured every year in the United States. According to the IIHS, “Each year about 2% of motor vehicle crash deaths are bicyclists. Although child bicyclist deaths have declined over the years, deaths among bicyclists age 20 and older have increased almost fivefold since 1975.” The rise in micro-mobility devices like e-bikes and scooters has increased this trend. Drivers should take a number of measures to avoid colliding with bicyclists.

  • Drivers should continuously scan the road ahead of them for hazards.
  • Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns.
  • Drivers should use their horns when necessary to alert pedestrians and cyclists of their presence.

Drivers must use caution to avoid colliding with pedestrians and cyclists in the roadway. This may require that they travel well below the speed limit. Drivers should be particularly cautious during periods of reduced visibility or inclement weather. If a driver enters into the path of a bicyclist without yielding the right-of-way, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. It is important that evidence is properly preserved after any bicycle accident.

  • The police should be called to the scene so they can begin an investigation.
  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • The contact information of eyewitnesses should be collected.

The vast majority of bicycle accidents are preventable and involve some amount of negligence. In particular, drivers may simply not be paying adequate attention to the road ahead of them. It is important that victims understand that they do have legal rights. They are able to pursue damages through a bodily injury claim.
