Construction Worker Died In Harlem After Being Pulled Down By Rope

Harlem Construction Worker Died After Fall at Property on Park Avenue

HARLEM, NEW YORK (February 1, 2025) – A construction worker has tragically died after a fall at a construction site located at 1505 Park Ave.

New York City officials are saying that the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon. A 45-year-old worker got one of his legs caught in a rope.

This led to the man being pulled to the ground and falling. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim.

But medical efforts to save him were not successful. He was later pronounced dead.

A full investigation into the incident remains ongoing at this time.

Liability for Manhattan Construction Accidents

Thousands of workers are killed or seriously injured at construction sites every year in the United States. Falls remain one of the leading causes of injury and death. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, “Within the private construction industry, specialty trade contractors account for most fatal falls, slips, and trips. Among specialty trade contractors, fatal falls, slips, and trips increased from 229 in 2018 to 245 in 2020 and to 281 in 2021.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a fall at a construction site.

  • Falls are more likely to occur when workers do not have adequate fall protection. This may include a lack of guardrails or safety nets.
  • Falls are more likely if a worksite has unprotected floor openings.
  • Falls are more likely if ladders are misused.

Construction companies have a legal obligation to protect workers from fall hazards. A building owner or general contractor could be liable for any accident where a worker falls or is hit by a falling object. Among other things, construction workers should be given personal fall arrest systems when they are working at heights above 6 feet. Victims of construction falls tend to suffer very serious injuries.

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Lacerations
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Death

It could be hard to know where to begin if you or a loved one has been injured in a construction accident. These incidents can traumatically alter the course of a person’s life. In many instances, workers may not be able to return to their previous profession. This can have a profound impact on them and their family. It is important for construction workers to understand that they do have rights. These rights extend to the family of any construction worker who dies on the job. They may be able to seek some measure of accountability through a wrongful death claim.
