Citi Bike Rider Killed In Manhattan Beer Delivery Truck Accident

New York City Police Department Investigating Fatal Citi Bike Accident Involving Beer Delivery Truck on West 50th Street In Manhattan

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (June 24, 2024) – A man riding a Citi Bike tragically died in a Manhattan car accident after being hit by a beer delivery truck.

New York City officials are saying that the collision took place around 2:00 p.m. on Friday. A 32-year-old cyclist was hit by a Lagunitas beer truck heading east on West 50th Street.

Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the Citi Bike rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1172, the driver of any vehicle approaching a yield sign shall stop and only proceed when it is safe to do so. If a driver hits a vehicle after going past a yield sign without yielding, this may be considered prima facie evidence of their failure to yield. Victims of pedestrian accidents often suffer very serious and costly injuries including:

• Head injuries

• Spinal cord injuries
