New York State Police Investigating Schodack School Bus Collision Along State Route 150
SCHODACK, NEW YORK (March 19, 2026) – A child was injured in a Schodack school bus accident along State Route 150 after the bus driver might have lost control.
New York State Police are saying that the collision took place around 3:22 PM on Wednesday afternoon. The school bus was heading down the roadway when the driver went off the road and hit a utility pole.
Paramedics were called to the scene of the crash to help the injured student. They were transported to the hospital to receive treatment.
Investigators closed down the roadway for some time as they worked to repair the damaged utility pole.
Many people are injured in accidents involving school buses each year. According to the National Safety Council, “From 2014 to 2023, about 71% of the deaths in school bus-related crashes were occupants of vehicles other than the school bus, and 16% were pedestrians. About 6% were school bus passengers, 4% were school bus drivers, and 3% were pedalcyclists.” Certain actions should be taken after any school bus collision.
If a bus driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a stationary object, they could be held liable for any collision. There is a presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that leaves a roadway and collides with a stationary object. Any person injured in a school bus collision may be able to pursue damages through a civil claim. A school bus accident attorney can examine the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
