New York City Police Department Investigating Harlem Postal Truck Accident Involving E-Bike By West 122nd Street and Manhattan Avenue
HARLEM, NEW YORK (March 20, 2023) – A bicyclist tragically died in Harlem after he was run over by a postal truck by West 122nd Street and Manhattan Avenue.
New York City police officials are saying that the collision took place around 6:00 a.m. on Monday. The e-bike rider was heading down the road when they lost control of their bike and fell on the roadway.
The e-bike rider was then run over by a postal truck. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
The number of e-bike and scooter accidents has continued to rise with the growth of companies like Lime and Bird. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “There were more than 190,000 emergency room (ED) visits due to all micromobility products from 2017 through 2020.
