A Driver Allegedly Well Over the Legal Limit Plowed Into the NYPD 83rd Precinct’s Trunk-or-Treat on Knickerbocker Avenue
BUSHWICK, NEW YORK (November 3, 2026) – Three children and three women were injured in a car accident at the NYPD 83rd Precinct’s Trunk-or-Treat event in Bushwick.
Kings County officials are saying that the accident occurred around 4 PM on Thursday. Families were gathered around the corner near Knickerbocker Avenue and Bleecker Street for the precinct’s Halloween-themed event.
A car reportedly struck pedestrians and a parked ambulance, which then initiated a chain-reaction crash. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help all of the victims.
A 31-year-old woman and her two daughters were injured in the collision and taken to Bellevue Hospital. Another 53-year-old woman was transported to Elmhurst Hospital to receive care.
A full investigation into the circumstances leading up to the crash remains ongoing.
Drunk driving crashes that injure pedestrians can create several layers of responsibility under New York law. The driver can be held liable for negligence, and a criminal prosecution does not prevent injured people from pursuing a separate civil claim. Liability can also extend to businesses that supply alcohol to any intoxicated driver under New York’s Dram Shop Act. The statute forbids establishments from continuing to provide alcohol to people who are already visibly intoxicated. It is important that several actions are taken after any DUI collision in New York.
It can be difficult to know where to begin after any DUI collision in New York. Victims are routinely left with catastrophic injuries that impair their ability to work or perform daily tasks. Children are among the most vulnerable victims when impaired drivers leave the road. According to NHTSA, 221 of the 1,032 children ages 14 and younger killed in traffic crashes in 2024 died in crashes involving an alcohol-impaired driver, about 21 percent. Any person injured due to the negligent actions of an intoxicated driver is able to seek some measure of accountability through a personal injury claim.
We at GLK Law wish a full recovery to the three children and three women injured at the 83rd Precinct Trunk-or-Treat in Bushwick. We hope this crash leads to accountability for everyone responsible and to safer planning for community events where families gather near traffic. This was a preventable accident that should’ve never taken place. There needs to be a thorough investigation into what went wrong for the sake of all who have been impacted.
