Construction Accident / Bobcat Machine
A settlement was reached in the third week of trial in the amount of $7.5 million on behalf of the eight surviving children of a 38 year old construction worker. During the course of his employment, the construction worker was caused to fall off a Bobcat machine, rendering him a quadriplegic. Subsequently, the construction worker died as a result of complications from his injuries.
Construction Accident / Ironworker
A settlement in the amount of $2.5 million was reached in Bronx County on behalf of the estate of a 44 year old iron worker’s apprentice. The apprentice was performing work on the underside of a bridge when he was caused to fall to his death due to improper safety precautions at the work site, including improper scaffolding and fall protection.
Police Officer
A $1,569,000 verdict was won on behalf of a 30 year-old officer of the New York City Police Department who slipped and fell as a result of substandard flooding conditions in the precinct where he was newly assigned. The injuries effectively ended his career as a police officer. He tore the anterior cruciate ligament; the medial and lateral menisci, necessitating two surgeries.
Construction Accident / Scaffolding
An $838,000 settlement was won on behalf of a 39 year-old carpenter foreman who fell off of a scaffold, sustaining serious injuries, including a right wrist fracture, three fractured ribs, and a disc herniation at C3-4 which required surgery.
