Liability For White Plains Construction Accidents
Falls remain one of the leading causes of workplace injury and death in the United States. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), around 60 people are killed and another 4,500 people are injured every year in scaffold accidents. The vast majority of scaffold accidents are totally preventable. There are many steps that construction companies can take to prevent falls.
- Construction workers should be given fall arrest systems.
- Scaffolds should have guardrails in certain locations.
- Construction workers should be trained to identify work hazards.
In addition to falls, many workers are also injured in crushing accidents. These accidents may involve vehicles or heavy equipment. A building owner could also be liable through New York Labor Law 200. Construction companies must provide workers with a reasonably safe environment for employees and those lawfully frequenting work sites. There are a number of steps that should be taken after any workplace accident.
- Medical records should be preserved.
- Surveillance records should be sought.
- A thorough investigation should be conducted.
- A construction accident attorney should be contacted.
It can be hard to know where to begin after any construction accident. Victims may not be able to return to work for significant periods of time. Any person that is injured in a construction accident may be able to seek recourse through a bodily injury claim. A civil claim can help with many of the expenses that come with a serious accident.
