Liability For East Patchogue Tire Blowout Accidents

It has been estimated that nearly 33,000 car accidents involve tires every year, according to data from the National Transportation Safety Board. Many of these accidents involve tires that suddenly blowout. A blowout can be extremely dangerous and cause a driver to suddenly lose control of their vehicle. There are several steps that drivers should take during a blowout in order to reduce the odds of an accident.

  • It is important to try and remain calm during a blowout.
  • Try to keep the wheel straight and accelerate slightly.
  • Slowly ease off of the accelerator after the car has stabilized.
  • Turn on your emergency lights.

Depending on the facts of any case, the company that manufactured a tire could be liable for an accident. Companies that design tires have a responsibility  to make those products reasonably safe. When a company fails to make their products reasonably safe they could be held accountable through a product liability claim. There are a number of steps that should be taken after any tire blowout.

  • Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • The tire involved in the blowout should be examined.
  • A thorough, independent investigation should be conducted.

It can be difficult to know where to begin after any accident. But it is important for accident victims to know that they have rights. Any person that is injured due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover many of the expenses that can come with a serious accident. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
