Liability For Fishkill Car Accidents

Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured in car accidents every year. According to New York Vehicle & Traffic Law § 1146(a), drivers must exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians, bicyclists and domestic animals in the roadway. Drivers should also use their horn in order to alert pedestrians and other drivers of their presence. There are a number of common factors that could contribute to a pedestrian accident.

  • Speeding
  • Drunk driving
  • Inclement weather
  • Poor road conditions

The family of any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and funeral costs. Sadly, though, drivers will often fight extremely hard to deny liability for any collision. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
