Woman Injured In Washington Township DUI Car Accident At Her Home On Route 57

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY (February 11, 2022) – A woman was critically injured after an allegedly intoxicated driver sent his pickup truck airborne before crashing it into the victim’s home.

Washington Township police officials are saying that the collision took place around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. A man in a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and hit a mailbox before his vehicle became airborne and hit the side of a home on Route 57.

A homeowner was critically injured in the crash and had to be taken to the hospital. Police believe that excessive speed and alcohol played a factor.

A second male homeowner was also injured in the crash. The man driving the pickup truck apparently went to a bar before the crash, but he was not served any alcohol because the servers believe he was already intoxicated.

Liability In New Jersey DUI Accidents

It is illegal to operate any motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Pursuant to New Jersey Vehicle Code 39:4-50, it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher. It is also illegal for the owner of a car to permit someone who is intoxicated to operate their vehicle.  Even small amounts of alcohol below the legal limit can substantially reduce a person’s ability to drive safely in the following ways.

  • Reduced coordination
  • Reduced concentration
  • Loss of muscle control
  • Delayed reaction times

Any person that is injured due to the negligence of another driver may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Many victims may not realize the full extent of their injuries until several weeks or months after an accident. A New Jersey personal injury attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
