Thousands of people are seriously injured or killed every year in garbage truck accidents. According to one report from the FMCSA, 107 people died in 2017 alone in crashes involving garbage trucks. There are a number of ways that garbage trucks can be particularly dangerous to pedestrians.

  • Garbage truck drivers are often put under an enormous amount of pressure to complete their routes as quickly as possible.
  • Garbage trucks have large blind spots that can obscure the presence of pedestrians.
