Liability For Laurell Hollow Car Accidents

Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured in car accidents involving drunk drivers. According to the NHTSA, “Every day, about 32 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 45 minutes. In 2020, 11,654 people died in alcohol-impaired driving traffic deaths — a 14% increase from 2019. These deaths were all preventable.” There are a number of steps that should be taken after any DUI accident.

  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • A thorough, independent investigation should be conducted.

Many different substances could potentially intoxicate a driver besides alcohol. It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher. Commercial drivers are held to a higher standard and must not drive with a BAC of 0.04% or higher. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim.
