BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (March 21, 2023) – Two people were killed and five people were injured in a Brooklyn high speed car accident by 18th Avenue and 64th Street.

New York City police officials are saying that the accident took place on Monday. A Toyota Camry and a Honda HRV were involved in a collision.

A full investigation into the collision on 18th Avenue remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Brooklyn Car Accidents

Speeding remains one of the leading causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2020, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are many other factors that could contribute to a car accident.

  • Distracted driving
  • Poor road conditions
  • Driver intoxication
  • Vehicle system malfunctions

All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid causing accidents, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover many of the expenses that come with the sudden loss of a loved one.
