Driver Intoxicated In Southhampton Head-On Car Accident on Sunrise Highway
SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK (October 16, 2023) – Two people were injured in a head-on Southampton car accident on Sunrise Highway in between exit 65 and exit 64.
Southampton police officials are saying that the incident took place around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. One driver crossed into opposing lanes of traffic before colliding with another vehicle head-on.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim. Two people were injured in the crash and one person was airlifted in critical condition.
Police believe that the driver of an Explorer involved in the crash was intoxicated. He has since been charged with DWI.
A full investigation remains ongoing at this time.
