Liability In Staten Island Car Accidents
Speeding is one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “In 2020, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities. Speed also affects your safety even when you are driving at the speed limit but too fast for road conditions, such as during bad weather, when a road is under repair, or in an area at night that isn’t well lit.” Victims of car accidents tent to suffer a number of very serious injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Spinal cord injuries
- Head injuries
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid causing accidents. If a driver is involved in an accident while speeding, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any victim that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
