Liability In Newport Car Accidents

Car accidents are one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the United States. According to Driver Knowledge, “[The] average number of car accidents in the .U.S. every year is 6 million. More than 90 people die in car accidents everyday. 3 million people in the U.S. are injured every year in car accidents. Around 2 million drivers in car accidents experience permanent injuries every year.” There are a number of steps that drivers should take in order to avoid collisions.

  • Drivers should abstain from any substances that could potentially impair them.
  • Drivers should check their blind spots before turning
  • Drivers should get adequate rest before operating their vehicle.

Many collisions are due to drivers that make unsafe lane changes. If a driver does make an unsafe lane change and causes an accident, they could be held at fault through a civil claim. It is important that evidence is properly preserved after an accident.

  • Photos of the accident site should be taken.
  • Surveillance footage should be sought.
  • Medical records should be preserved.

Any person that is injured in a car accident may be able to seek aid through a bodily injury claim. Damages can help cover an ambulance ride, medical bills and lost wages. Sadly, though, insurance companies will often fight hard to deny responsibility for any accident. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
