Liability For Rochester Pedestrian Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in car accidents. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a pedestrian collision.
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Drivers should be particularly cautious when they are traveling through a parking lot. The family of any person that died in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a wrongful death claim.
