Liability For German Flatts Pedestrian Accidents
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in pedestrian accidents. According to the CDC, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020.1 That’s about one death every 75 minutes. One in six people who died in crashes in 2020 were pedestrians.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a pedestrian accident.
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care to avoid hitting pedestrians. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person that died due to the negligent actions of a driver may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
