Liability For Elmira Car Accidents

The vast majority of pedestrian accidents are preventable and involve some amount of human error. According to the CDC, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes.” There are a number of steps that should be taken after any pedestrian accident.

  • Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • A thorough investigation should be conducted.

When a driver is negligent and hits a pedestrian, they can be held at fault through a civil claim. The family of any person that is killed in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
