Liability For Copiague Car Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in the United States. According to the CDC, “One in six people who died in crashes in 2020 were pedestrians. There were also an estimated 104,000 emergency department visits of pedestrians treated for non-fatal crash-related injuries in 2020.” There are a number of common causes of pedestrian collisions.
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
All drivers are supposed to slow down to avoid hitting pedestrians. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. The family of any person that is killed in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
