Liability For New Hartford Pedestrian Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year in car accidents. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020. That’s about one death every 75 minutes. One in six people who died in crashes in 2020 were pedestrians.” There are a number of reasons that parking lots can be particularly dangerous.
- Parking lots lack clearly marked lanes of traffic.
- Drivers can come from all directions in a parking lot.
- Many drivers speed in parking lots.
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid pedestrians. If a driver fails to slow down and hits a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. A car accident attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
