Liability In Queens Car Accidents
Thousands of pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every year. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “More than 7,000 pedestrians were killed on our nation’s roads in crashes involving a motor vehicle in 2020.1 That’s about one death every 75 minutes. One in six people who died in crashes in 2020 were pedestrians.” There are many factors that could contribute to a car accident including:
- Drunk driving
- Inclement weather
- Driver distraction
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. If a driver fails to exercise due care and hits a pedestrian, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person that is injured in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering.
