Liability For Ramapo Car Accidents
Thousands of people are killed or seriously injured every year in car accidents. Many collisions involve drunk drivers. According to The Zebra, “As of 2023, every day, 37 people in the United States die in car crashes with an alcohol-impaired driver. This is one death every 39 minutes. (CDC) More than a quarter (31%) of all traffic-related deaths are the direct result of alcohol impairment. (NHTSA)” There are many other factors that could contribute to a car accident including:
- Speeding
- Distracted driving
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. If a driver fails to slow down and rear-ends another vehicle this could form the basis of a negligence claim. There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that rear-ends another vehicle in their own lane of traffic. The family of any person that died in a car accident may be able to seek some measure of justice through a wrongful death claim.
