AVOCA, NEW YORK (August 11, 2023) – One person has tragically died in an Avoca two-vehicle car accident along State Route 415, according to the New York State Police.

Avoca police officials are saying that the collision took place around 3:00 p.m. on August 6. Two vehicles were involved in a collision under unclear circumstances.

One of the two vehicles appeared to be a red open-top convertible. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victims.

Sadly, one person died due to their injuries. A full investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.

Liability For Avoca Car Accidents

Car accidents remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the U.S. According to the IIHS, “There were 39,508 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2021 in which 42,939 deaths occurred. This resulted in 12.9 deaths per 100,000 people and 1.37 deaths per 100 million miles traveled. The fatality rate per 100,000 people ranged from 5.7 in Rhode Island to 26.2 in Mississippi.” There are a number of steps that should be taken after any car accident.

  • Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
  • Medical records should be preserved.
  • The police report should be examined.
  • An experienced personal injury attorney should be consulted.

The vast majority of car accidents are preventable and involve some amount of human error. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Sadly, though, insurance companies will often fight hard to deny liability for any collision. This is why it is so important that evidence is properly preserved after a crash.
