The 2005 Isuzu truck\u2019s driver smashed into him as he was turning into a garage near Rewe Street. Lopez was rushed to Woodhull Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.The police didn\u2019t charge the truck driver, who remained on the scene, despite a video showing him recklessly striking the bicyclist. The video, which was handed to the police by a witness, was obtained by Streetblog and Transportation Alternatives.They released a statement asking the NYPD and the Mayor to stop ticketing bicyclists and to take immediate action towards street safety in an attempt to avoid the disasters of the 2019 carnage. 27 people died in bicycle accidents last year.
