Liability For Cayuta Car Accidents
Rear-end collisions are the most common type of car accident. They are also the most preventable. Pursuant to New York Vehicle Code 1129, “The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway.” There is a rebuttable presumption of negligence on the part of any driver that rear-ends another vehicle in their own lane. Victims of car accidents tend to suffer very serious and costly injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Head injuries
- Lacerations
- Spinal cord injuries
Many accident victims may not realize the full extent of their injuries for several weeks or months after a collision. Any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
