Liability For Cornwall Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcyclists are overrepresented in serious injury and fatal collisions. The NHTSA estimates that motorcyclists are 29 times more likely to be killed in car accidents than those in passenger vehicles per vehicle miles traveled. They lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and their small profiles make them more likely to be overlooked. Many of these serious accidents involve drivers that are making left turns. There are a number of factors that could contribute to a left-turn accident.
- Drivers may be distracted and fail to see motorcyclists in the road.
- Drivers may fail to check their blind spots before a turn.
- Drivers may be fatigued or intoxicated.
The vast majority of motorcycle accidents are preventable and involved some amount of driver error. The family of any person that died in a motorcycle accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. It is important that evidence is properly preserved after any accident. Evidence is what will ultimately be used to determine liability.
