Liability In Catskill Car Accidents
Left turns can be incredibly dangerous especially for motorcyclists. According to New York Vehicle Code 1141, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right of way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.” There are many steps that should be taken following any fatal collision.
- Photos of the accident site should be taken.
- Eye witnesses should be interviewed.
- Medical records should be preserved.
- A thorough investigation should be conducted.
The family of any person that is killed in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. Sadly, though, drivers will do everything in their power to deny responsibility for any collision. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
