Liability For Brooklyn Car Accidents
Companies like Lime and Bird have popularized electric scooters, mopeds and electric bicycles. Anyone with the app can quickly rent a Lime or Bird scooter in the cities where they are available. But this rise in popularity has coincided with a rise in accidents. According to one report from Business Insider, “there have been at least 1,545 accidents in the US involving electric scooters over the past year (2018).” There are several steps that drivers should take in order to avoid scooter accidents.
- Drivers should check their blind spots before turning.
- Drivers should slow down during periods of reduced visibility.
- Drivers should maintain a safe distance away from scooters and other vehicles.
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid collisions. To that end, drivers must maintain a safe distance away from the vehicles ahead of them. The family of any person that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
