Liability In Manhattan Car Accidents
Far too many people are killed or seriously injured every year in hit-and-run collisions. According to Value Penguin, “Fatal hit-and-runs are becoming more frequent — and so are the number of deaths that arise from them. ValuePenguin researchers found that the number of fatal hit-and-runs rose from 1,342 in 2010 to 1,939 in 2019 — the latest available data — after reaching a high point of 2,012 in 2016” There are many factors that could potentially contribute to hit-and-run collisions:
- Drunk driving
- Inclement weather
- Driver fatigue
When a driver is negligent and kills a pedestrian they can be held at fault through a civil claim. The family of any victim that died can pursue a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
