The attorneys at Gersowitz, Libo & Korek, P.C. worked in collaboration with The Gardiner Foundation to turn the dream of 30 Bronx children into reality by providing free tickets to the New York Knicks v. Atlanta Hawks game on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Madison Square Garden, “the worlds most famous arena”. For many of these kids, it was their first time attending a professional basketball game, making the experience even more special and memorable.
The free tickets were not the only thing these children enjoyed. Each child was also provided with a swag bag filled with food coupons to enjoy at the game, Knicks t-shirts, and other Knicks memorabilia. The group braved the harsh New York winter blizzard to get to the Garden to watch the game. They enjoyed the game under the watchful eyes of Dexter Gardiner, founder of The Gardiner Foundation, which was established to provide emotional and financial support to families who have experienced the unexpected and tragic loss of a loved one.
The 30 lucky children were picked from a group of others who are involved in the mentoring program “tru-talk.” The youth mentoring program offers children who are dealing with the inner city problems of drugs, sex, violence and guns with the emotional and mental counseling they need to help them overcome the obstacles of every day life.
As a result of the success and enjoyment experienced by the 30 children who were able to enjoy the Knicks game, Gersowitz, Libo & Korek, P.C. is working to make the NY Knicks an annual event.
