Liability For Park Slope Car Accidents
Far too many bicyclists are killed or seriously injured in collisions every year. According to the Centers for Disease Control, “Bicycle trips make up only 1% of all trips in the United States. However, bicyclists account for over 2% of people who die in a crash involving a motor vehicle on our nation’s roads.” There are many factors that could contribute to a bicycle accident.
- Bicycle accidents are more likely to happen at night.
- Bicycle accidents are more likely to happen at intersections.
- Bicycle accidents are more likely to happen when drivers are distracted.
Every driver has a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians and bicyclists. This includes driving at a safe speed and slowing down when necessary. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting a bicyclist, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. A personal injury attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
