Liability For Rochester Bicycle Accidents
Thousands of bicyclists are killed or seriously injured every year in the United States. According to the CDC, “Bicycle trips make up only 1% of all trips in the United States. However, bicyclists account for over 2% of people who die in a crash involving a motor vehicle on our nation’s roads.” There are a number of factors that could contribute to a bicycle accident.
- Speeding
- Inclement weather
- Poor road conditions
- Distracted driving
Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as those in vehicles. If a driver fails to reduce their speed and hits a bicyclist, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A bicycle accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
