Liability For Staten Island Car Accidents
Speed is one of the most common causes of car accidents in the United States. According to the NHTSA, “For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities. In 2020, speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities.” There are many steps that drivers should take in order to avoid collisions.
- Drivers should slow down at night and during times of inclement weather.
- Drivers should check their blind spots before making turns.
- Drivers should abstain from alcohol and other intoxicating substances.
All drivers have a legal obligation to exercise due care in order to avoid causing accidents. If a driver fails to slow down to avoid hitting another vehicle, this could form the basis of a negligence claim. Any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a civil claim. A personal injury attorney can examine all of the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
