A native of New Jersey, Matt Wurgaft joined the firm as an Associate in August 2012. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2004 and his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2011. At Seton Hall he was awarded Best Oral Advocate of his Appellate Advocacy section and participated as a representative of his fellow classmates in the Student Bar Association. Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked as law clerk to the Honorable Dennis F. Carey, III, P.J.S.C., presiding civil judge of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County. There, Matt’s responsibilities included management of the Judge’s motion and hearing practice, as well as drafting memorandums for motions for summary judgment, motions to dismiss, and orders to show cause. Matt brings to the firm a working knowledge of how cases move throughout the trial court system as well as litigation strategies that can greatly assist our clients. Clients have referred to Matt as a calming presence, and it is his personality combined with legal expertise that makes him an asset to the firm. Matt’s practice focuses primarily on automobile negligence, premises liability, medical malpractice and other general negligence. He is currently admitted to the New Jersey (2011) and New York Bars (2012) as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey (2011). Matt’s personal interests include music, travel, running, and golf.
